Bed & breakfast web design

Kentraw Farmhouse is a newly renovated Bed & Breakfast on the Isle of Islay in Scotland. They asked us to develop a brand for their new b&b, as well as developing a website to promote the accommodation online.

The brand design needed to represent the luxurious status of the accommodation, while still incorporating the warm and traditional feel of the island. Islay is famous for it’s whisky – there are 8 distilleries on the island – so we opted to base the logo icon on a simple representation of a cask lid.

The website had to showcase a gallery of the b&b accommodation as well as providing useful information about the location, activities and prices. The idea was for the website to be an initial resource for guests to use before and while they are on the island. We wanted the image gallery to be as large as possible, to reflect the quality of the furnishings in the house – we included interactive navigation to make it easily accessible and usable.

The about page includes an interactive google map of Islay, which lets users navigate round the island to find places of interest such as distilleries, activities and beaches. There is also a history page where users can read the background story on why the bed and breakfast was renovated.
